The northwest side neighborhood of Logan Square is one of Chicago’s most alluring communities, well known for its tree-lined boulevards, diverse community, and abundance of entertainment options. 

Whether you’re someone who loves to try new restaurants, a fan of historic architecture, or just looking for a great night out with friends, Logan Square definitely has something to offer. Here are six of the best things that you can do in this amazing neighborhood.

One of Logan Square’s most noticeable features are its large boulevards, which are part of Chicago’s planned boulevard system. One of these is Logan Boulevard, a beautiful thoroughfare lined with stately greystone mansions and surrounded by a dense canopy of trees.


A walk along Logan Boulevard will give you a glimpse into Logan Square’s history, with many of the homes along the street dating back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. At the intersection of Logan Boulevard and Milwaukee Avenue you’ll find the eponymous Logan Square Park, a perfect place to relax when the weather permits. Between May and October, be sure to check out the food stalls and artisanal vendors at Logan Square Farmers Market, which takes place each Sunday.

The 606, also known as the Bloomingdale Trail, is a 2.7-mile elevated park and trail that begins in Logan Square and runs to the edge of Wicker Park. This former rail line first opened in 2015, and is the second longest trail of its kind in the world. Since its opening, The 606 has become a popular destination for casual strolls, jogging, biking, and more.

Also found along the trail are public art installations, lovely curated gardens, and scenic overlooks. The trail has several entrances and exits throughout its path, making it easy to explore wherever you end up.

Logan Square is a hub for creativity and as a result, there are several music venues and art galleries that can be found around the neighborhood. For live performances check out Concord Music Hall, a legendary venue known for hosting up-and-coming indie bands and established artists. showcase both local and international talent.

One of Logan Square’s not so hidden gems is Palmer Square Park, located just a little off the beaten path in the heart of the neighborhood. The park features a large, open green space surrounded by mature trees, and is an ideal spot for picnics, a game of kickball, or just relaxing with a book. There are also various community events hosted in the park throughout the year, including outdoor yoga classes and local festivals.

Rounding out our list is the postmodern Franklin Center, completed in 1989 and standing at a height of 1,007 feet. Although not as well known as many of its peers, the building is still identifiable due to its distinctive crown adorned with Gothic-inspired spires. The Franklin Center is a mixed-use complex, but primarily serves as an office building.
